Ricardo Villalobos is a consummate artist with everything that goes with it. He's unpredictable and always good for a surprise. Just when you think you know what he‘s up to, Villalobos engages in an entirely new project, again breaking all limits of what was previously thought possible. He set to music silent movies in front a live audience with Moritz von Oswald, had starred in Romuald Karmakar's documentary "Villalobos" and just released the ambient album "Re: ECM“, on which he remastered and remixed tracks of the jazz label ECM along with producer Max Loderbauer. An album with no beats at all! Most astonishing for a man who created dancefloor hits like “Dexter“ and “Easy Lee“. That‘s apparently what you get when you grow up as a native Chilean in the south german town of Darmstadt.
